Surface-mounted parallel-plate capacitors (PPCs) can be used as transducing elements in wireless communication, for example, human-body-dedicated applications, such healthcare monitoring or activity tracking, which require robust communications and user-convenient implementation. In this context, PPCs are an attractive element due to their mobility, noninvasive positioning, small form factors. Moreover, they relatively easy analyze with a simple design. This work studies the use of on dielectric, cylindrical waveguides precursor complex electromagnetic environment that human body is. The fields surrounding placed dielectric medium described theoretically. theory involves combination surface waves, inductive coupling, quasi-static coupling between PPCs. (cylindric) waveguides, material’s dimensions frequency excitation dictate whether propagation certain modes occur. article shows, one hand, these excited by surface-mounted waveguide coupler PPCs, other associated is governed modal characteristics.
